Questions People Ask Us
Everything we get asked about fitted sliding wardrobes, in one place. If yours is not here, ring the workshop on 01443 485533.
Prices and Paying
Ours start at £799. What you pay comes down to the width of the run, the doors you choose and how the inside is fitted out. Your free design visit comes with a proper price for your room.
A typical spend is around £1,795 to £2,295.
Yes. Door types are priced differently. Sliding wardrobes start at £799, while glass wardrobes start at £999.
Design, manufacture, delivery and fitting, and we take all the packaging away with us. One price, and nothing gets added to it afterwards.
No, we do not offer finance or payment plans.
You can pay by cash, cheque or bank transfer on completion. We may ask for a deposit for unusual colours or something outside our standard range.
Because we make them ourselves. There is no factory, no importer and no showroom on a retail park adding rent, advertising and commission to your price.
The Design Visit
Yes. We come to you, measure up, prepare a clear design sketch and work out your price. There is no charge and no obligation to order.
Geraint usually carries out the design visits, as his fitting experience helps him spot any issues before the wardrobes are made.
Most jobs are fitted in a single day. From ordering to fitting is usually around three to four weeks.
No. There is no evening-only price and nobody will ring you the next day to see if you have changed your mind.
Yes, whether you go ahead or not.
Send a few photos and rough measurements by WhatsApp or email and we will give you a guide. For an exact price we need to measure properly.
Choosing Your Doors
Mirror, glass and solid panel, all made to measure in our own workshop.
Mirror, almost always. A wall of mirror throws light back across the room and it is the single biggest difference you can make to how big a small bedroom feels.
Yes. We make all the doors ourselves, so you can mix and match them to suit your preferences.
Door-frame finishes include black, white, stone grey, metal grey, graphite, satin gold, oak, walnut and cashmere. Wood colours range from black and white to a wide choice of wood grains. We bring a sample book to your home design visit.
More than a painted door, particularly at handle height. Glass cleaner and a soft cloth, occasionally.
Yes. Every mirror and glass door we make is safety-backed so it holds together rather than shattering.
Your Room
Not in an older house, no. Our fitters scribe and adjust on the day so the run sits level and the doors slide properly.
Yes, and it is one of the jobs we like most. We build to the roofline, so the low end becomes drawers or shoe storage rather than dead space.
Yes, most weeks. The alcoves either side of a chimney breast are usually where the best storage ends up.
Common in the older semis and terraces. The run usually goes on the wall opposite or into the alcoves, and we work it out at the design visit.
We can work around most radiators with infill pieces or by scribing around them, although we recommend moving the radiator to another wall where possible. Windows depend on their position, so raise them at the design visit.
A single run can be up to 5 metres wide. With a centre divide, it can continue further; we have made wardrobes up to 8 metres wide. Doors can be up to 2,550mm high, with an infill above for rooms up to 3 metres high.
We scribe around skirting boards and picture rails. We normally cut a small slot in the coving, unless it is old Georgian-style coving that needs to be preserved.
That is the room sliding doors were made for. A hinged door needs two feet of clear floor to open and a box room has not got it.
Fitting Day
Most jobs are fitted in a single day, dependent on the size and complexity of the install. We would normally suggest the extra time on the design visit, giving you time to plan for it if necessary.
Usually around three to four weeks. If you are working to a deadline, let us know at the design visit and we will do our best to have everything fitted in time.
We keep it to a minimum. Any cutting is done in our van, which doubles as our workshop on the day, so most of the dust stays out of your bedroom. Inside, we put dust sheets down before we start, the room gets hoovered before we leave, and we take all the packaging away with us.
Ideally, we would prefer the area to be cleared beforehand. However, we may ask permission to move furniture to allow the installation process to be carried out, but it would be at the customer's own risk.
Yes, we can remove and take away old wardrobes for an additional cost based on how much needs removing. The waste goes into our recycling skips rather than simply going to landfill.
Our own SP Mirror Wardrobes team. We do not and have never used subcontractors.
No. We do not and have never used subcontractors.
Warranty and Aftercare
All materials and our workmanship are covered for two years from the fitting date. Glass and mirror breakages are not normally covered, but we assess each case individually. If we believe the breakage resulted from manufacture or installation, we will consider covering it under the warranty.
Glass and mirror breakages are not normally covered. We assess each case individually and will consider warranty cover if we believe manufacture or installation caused the problem.
Ring the workshop. We made it, so we come out and sort it ourselves. There is no case number and no supplier to chase.
That is the reputation cheap sliding wardrobes gave the whole product. It comes down to the quality of the track and how carefully it is set, which is the part that gets rushed on a flatpack fit. Ours are covered by the warranty.
Yes, and a lot of people do. We keep the details of what we built for you, so a second room matches the first.
Glass cleaner and a soft cloth for mirror and glass. Nothing special, and no coating to look after.
